There is a big discrepancy between the calculated need for teachers at vocational tech-nical schools an the graduates in vocational technical education in Germany. It seems important to focus on the success of studying vocational technical education for research. At first, the hard factors of success need to be explored. The results show that compliance to the standard period of study tends to be an exception. The choice of major an minor subjects has effects on the success in studying vocational technical education at the University of Kassel.
