Measure competencies combine the ability to abstract with that of concreteness through reference to objects and processes. They are considered essential both in school and in vocational training. The authors suggest focussing on measure competences at the transition to vocational training. Operational focus offers a didactization of measurement processes, which are used for the determination of specific measurements. The learning of measurement processes makes it possible to connect theoretical knowledge references from the school education with the job skills. Furthermore, the sizes and measures acquired by the apprentices themselves should serve as cognitive anchors and form the basis for a critically assessable knowledge and job skills.
