This article presents the findings regarding research topics generated by a pilot study on research methods and topics in technology education. The pilot study follows the methodology of a scoping review and aims, on the one hand, to test a category system developed for this purpose and, on the other hand, to provide initial insights into research topics.
Out of 224 publications, 90 were selected on the basis of specific criteria. These were drawn from a scientific journal (JOTED), papers from selected conferences of the DGTB, and postgraduate theses (dissertations and habilitations) in technology education. The result was a categorization system for the systematization of research topics. In this context, insights were gained into active fields of research and areas requiring further investigation.
