Abstract

The DIN 33459 education standard has the potential to unite the (teacher) training landscape in Germany behind a common minimum standard. To do so, it must be both practical and meaning-ful in terms of content. This article summarizes the experiences of eight student laboratories that were accompanied during their introduction of DIN 33459. To this end, interviews with staff members were conducted, key topics identified, and core statements that reflect the experiences of those applying the standard highlighted. The introduction and implementation of the standard were considered relatively uncomplicated, while its main benefits were perceived during its im-plementation process. Finally, future prospects, potentials, and possible pitfalls of DIN 33459 are outlined.
