In German-speaking countries, a systematic integration of engineering perspectives into technology education is still lacking – an approach that has been established internationally in some countries under the term engineering literacy. Against this background, the study examines which engineering-related competency models exist internationally for such an integration and whom they are addressed to. A systematic literature review screened 2,132 contributions across three academic databases, of which 89 articles were qualitatively analysed. The focus is on competency frameworks and their connection to general technology education taught in school. The paper discusses the key results and their significance for technology education.
